Outsource Industries, Inc. was approached by a customer in the housing industry to develop a water shut-off system that would detect a hot water heater leak and prevent flooding in residential homes. Working closely with the customer we engineered this product according to their concept, carefully meeting their specialized requirements. Utilizing our in house circuit board manufacturing machinery, fiberglass and plastic materials were employed to construct the custom part, holding tolerances of ±.007". The part exhibited a plastic gloss finish, with completed measurements of 4" x 2" x 1/4". Comprehensive testing for functionality and accuracy were carried out internally and by the UL, performing tests on water heaters with the part.

Over 60,000 units were fabricated and shipped to the customer in Florida, after a 120 day turnaround time. The flood hawk device was successfully constructed to customer satisfaction, a "concept-to-finished product" project.
